Save Habeas

The Senate is considering the so-called "Bingaman Amendment". Essentially, this is an amendment to legislation to mitigate/reverse some of the most agregious aspects of Lindsay Grahams bill (which passed yesterday) to eliminate habeas corpus for Gitmo detainees. You can Call Senators and sign the petition here.

And yes, the calls and signatures do make a difference. There is a lot of political gamesmanship going on behind the scenes over the entire habeas issues. Like everyone else, it makes me sick that politicians would play games with such a fundamental portion of freedom. But they are. Your calls to support habeas will matter.
